Gas hob does not stay lit.

Hi,
I have a gas hob which uses Calor gas. It fires up no problem but when you let go of the handle after a few seconds the burner goes off. The hob has six burners and all of the other burners work fine. This burner is the smallest one which we use for simmering small pots but I cannot get it to stay on.
The cooker is a lacanche from' forno de france' with electric oven and gas hob.. Any ideas?
