Gas Installer needed

No you said 300 to make the job sound more complicated .
Changing a feulsaver 40,000 heat ex is exactly the same as changing a 50,000.
As for those that struggle it cant be that hard as you are one of those poorly trained exBG guys you always mentioning compared to those that done a proper city and guilds apprenticeship and not an NVQ as you did.

As for estimates still waiting for your list or did you read it in some trade publication
And if you think giving answers such as phone vailant they only charge 215 quid makes you an expert then i hold my hands up to you

I mention fixed prices when the op is incapable of repairing themselves and it seems good value. I've learnt more after my apprenticeship than during it. I will get your list if you please, but it will take a little time. I never claimed any info from trade publications that was bigburner. NVQ L3 is run by city and guilds and of equal value to yours according to them.

Funny i thought i had seen you mention fixed prices as a first reply to people who had asked questions, And do you think you are an exception re learning after your NVQ . I would hope so to after all what did you do 18 months
As for trade publication comment do you not recpgnise pi@s take

A manufacturer's staff engineer does have two advantages, he goes to a limited selection of boilers and he has a full set of spare parts to try if he cannot diagnose the fault.

But he does have to fix it unlike the independent who can walk away or the Bg who can give up and have another engineer go the next day.

An independent has no such luxury. He has to fix it or not get paid! He cannot fit parts for fun either.

Yesterday, I went to a boiler which had been visited by an independent simpleton! The boiler diagnostics said APS so he went out and bought one and fitted it and it still did not work! So he just gave up!

Tony BG also call out the manufacturers on a regular basis (ususally simple faults overlooked). I agree with your points and I do have to fix it, I can't pass the buck or pick and choose my jobs- If we made it then I'll fix it with a 98% first time fix. (even we don't carry every single part for every product we've ever made as van not big enough but we carry most commonly used items). Our parts cost are monitored and it's not just a free for all as we have targets and budgets too.
