Gas powered Bain-Maria playing up (very dangerous fire!)

To start - You may not want to hear it but you honestly don't know how lucky you are that you are still here. I'm surprised that whole thing didn't go bang the first time it was lit and your brand new bain marie along with you and yours ended up in bits. If that had gone properly wrong that 47Kg tank would have made a hell of a mess. Who connected the gas pipe up?

As has been suggested, you need a LPG regulator on that line, it cannot be fed directly from the bottle.

Looking at the RC MI's, it doesn't actually say "regulator" but it does say -

DO NOT USE THE DEVICE UNLESS YOU HAVE THOROUGHLY READ AND UNDERSTOOD THIS USER MANUAL.
IMPORTANT! - Installation, maintenance, conversion for the type of gas and other specialist work should be performed by a qualified technician, a person properly licensed or authorized by the manufacturer.
And the most important one - This equipment is designed to be used with a low pressure control valve only.

Don't get annoyed at people's comments, it is these types of incidents that we read about where someone has killed themselves and others by mistakes made due to in experience and/or lack of knowledge
