Gas Supply Pipe blocking crawlspace

Yep and that earth bonding needs moving to the copper internals.
It is, bonding is on the iron supply pipe, the internal copper gas pipe and the internal copper water pipes so it's bonded three ways.

So for those interested, apparently this yellow valve is a taylor valve that requires a special key to operate. It's a version where you can shut off your gas by hand, but then need a special key to turn on again. How do I know? After I switched it on again, I had no gas and had to call Cadent for help... to be fair, the guys were here within an hour and were nice about it. They did agree it's an unusual setup and mentioned it may be worthwhile to dig up the pavement and have the supply pipes re-done properly, i.e. supply before the meter goes straight into the meter instead of passing through my property and then back out again. Unfortunately that won't be covered and I would have to pay out of pocket. Not sure I can justify that expense...

Having worked for BG and then cadent at various times over several decades what was this special key he used ?
As this special key they needed you mention we were never supplied within anything like this

yeah it basically looks like a gas meter box key (triangular), but a very specific size. The first guy from Cadent did not even have it on them, so he had to call others in the area. In the end I had 3 vans in my street :)

edit:
had a quick google search. It looks like this one, but the lever removed. This company also appears to see this special security valve operating key. They probably fitted it, because it runs through my house and wanted to reduce the chance of anyone tampering with it...they should've re-routed the supply outside the first time. Will have to have a think what/if to do next
