Sorry for using your poster name,
But would be ever so grateful if you could help me out.
I have had an Ideal Isar for a few years now, and experienced the problems of the "firing up without demand for domestic hot water", Ideal did infact correct this.
Prior to my PCB going down, I believe that I had problems with the divertor valve. The rads upstairs became warm, whenever the pre heat cuts in, or domestic hot water was called for. Only the heating flow pipe becomes warm/ hot.
I have insured my boiler, and an Ideal engineer came out over Christmas, and replaced the pc board. System back up and running, but when asked about the "possible" divertor valve question, well he just wanted to get to his next call. He said yes possibly, but see if the pcb will rectify it.
I contacted Ideal, and an engineer called out to day, he mentioned that the fact that the leaking tap on the sink was dripping, this was the concern. The tap does not leak, believe me, but I did isolate it, and the problem is still apparent.
From cold, and opening up a hot tap, the flow pipe becomes warm/hot.
The same happens on the "t" preheat cycle, upstairs rads become warm.
I was hoping that you might be able to confirm the divertor valve at fault or possibly another concern.
I am sorry to bother you,
Many thanks Rich.

you have probably got dirt in the cartridge which could be fixed just by pushing it in a few times

if ya got cover with ideal id just call them back out as the pcb wnt make a difference.. sounds like ya diverter is either sticking or passing. i just replace um as its only a 10min job!

Try what Idealnumber1 says first, it is easy and simple to do. The motor head just clips on and off.

If this doesn't cure it then it is a very common fault for the DV to stick on these.

Strange thing is though, even with my great hatred of these boilers, the Ideal engineers are usually very good.

Only had one really bad one on my patch who has since been sacked 8)

Call Ideal back in, but this time state you think it is a DV fault. Perhaps some engineers only attend for the exact fault listed on their work schedule, or perhaps Ideal do not allow them time to look at 'other' faults, other than those reported

Many thanks for your knowledge and time gentlemen.
It is most appreciated.
Kind Regards. Rich
