It has occurred to me lately, that I regularly overindulge on certain snacks. For instance, large bags of doritos and dip - I can get through one of each in one go. A full tube of pringles. etc. I then look at the GDA on the empty packet, and do the sums, and realise that I've eaten like twice my GDA of energy or salt or some silly figure. But I've been doing this for years and my weight seems fairly stable (and healthy). Does anyone else overindulge like this?

It also occurs to me that a "portion size" as indicated on the packs is normally stupidly small. An annorexic wouldnt consider it a portion! For example, this tube of pringles in front of me states a portion is 25g. And theres 6.8 portions in a tube. 6.8? So I have to buy another tube to get my 7th serving and throw the other 6.6 portions away?

Its all *******s isnt it?

Trouble i think is that all these scientific experiments to determine whats good or not for us are done a lot of the time on a commission basis and therefore tuned for a particular result, the media picks up on these results and takes them out of context as a single result in itself and not part of a whole picture of what we eat, so we end up with the contradictions of one day a particular food can be harmful for you, the next you should eat it to stay healthy!?

Moderation in what we eat is important but i also think the balance of what we eat pays just as much importance in our diet.
