Glazing tape vs silicone - acoustic performance

When fitting double glazed units into timber frames, is there any difference in acoustic performance between fitting them with glazing tape, or with silicone (neutral cure, obviously)?

Firstly I do not have a definitive scientific answer, but?

What I thought was that if we consider the glass to resemble a Drum Skin?

If that "Skin" is fitted hard to the frame, by the reasonably Inflexible "Tape" then I think this fix method will transmit more external road noise [for example] as opposed to a flexible medium that will hold the glass just away from the frame and also provide a resilient "Buffer" between our Skin and the hard frame?

As previously noted the above is not a Scientific Specific answer, but may be worth consideration.

Lets see what the board makes of this question?

That was my suspicion, and the sort of answer I was hoping for

The joiner who made the windows for me has rebated them and made the beads on the assumption that I would be using silicone, so there's no space for tape without leaving the beads proud of the surface of the windows. And traffic noise is an issue.

Don't glaze with clear silicone, use a clear polymer instead like fix all crystal clear.
