Glitter paint

Do you have to use a special glitter to make glitter paint. Or can you mix any type of glitter into the emulsion like craft glitter ?

Ive used the supplied glitter from Valspar in their own silk emulsion, has to be stirred thoroughly though. Not sure about other types of glitter.
