How many years have we been sending money to these countries, and how much has improved?

30 countries around the globe giving .7 % of GDP since 1970.

Have these countries become any less poor, showed sign of improvement?

Some countries we should block foreign aid to, Pakistan for example, their prejudice against Hindus and forced kidnapping of children and Draconian out dated laws meaning the perpetrators blatantly get away with it.

Yemen appears to be a waste of time, how long have they tried to have a ruling parliament? They've literally done nothing in the past 30 odd years of parliamentary in-fighting, stopping any progress being made and the public becoming desperate and poor.

Nigeria, resourcefully rich, on the right trajectory, just need to sort out the Isis factions of the country and the Christian genesis few people seem to give a monkeys about.

Maybe money isn't working, maybe we need to offer something different, chucking good money after bad whether it's .5 or .7 percent is a pointless exercise.

1 thing I always be amazed at is that these countries always have plenty of money for war materials, but never any for their own citizens.

The budget that does get sent gets a nice wod creamed off the top by various elites.

Until recently, France, West Germany, and the UK had very similar population sizes.

It is a shame the UK decided to throw away its voice in Europe.

Still, influence isn't everything, is it?
 
Even with a temporary cut to our overseas aid we can still be very proud of the generosity of our nation, Only Germany, USA, India, China and Japan will be giving more (and even at that they will be giving less per person the the UK).

[yes totally mad but....., even though we give aid to India they still donate more globally in foreign aid than we do]

France intends to increase its foreign aid budget. Currently, France allocates 0.44% of its gross national income (GNI) to foreign aid. The country’s president, Emmanuel Macron, has set a goal of attributing 0.55% of the GNI to foreign aid by 2022. This would increase the budget from its current amount, $12.2 billion, to over $15 billion, allocating nearly $3 billion extra to France’s foreign aid.
