Hi everyone

I have done a search and read a few threads but can't find anything specific to my boiler and I'm wondering if you might help. Even if it's making sure I don't get my pants pulled down by an unscrupulous engineer (hopefully not literally haha).

I think this boiler is in desperate need of a service, which I will have done, but this morning we woke to no heating. The 'reset' light was lit and the 'burner lit indicator' is flashing constantly.

I have run through the re-ignition sequence a number of times without success and it returns to the state mentioned above. The re-ignition process I've followed is:

1) Turn dial to 0 and wait 60 seconds or so
2) Turn dial up (I've tried various levels but I don't think this matters)
3) Wait for the auto ignition to kick in
4) I've also tried killing the power at the fused spur and waiting before doing 1-3 again

During the ignition sequence I hear the fan in the flue spin up (I can also see it spinning from outside whilst checking the flue isn't blocked), a short while after there is a loud click (like a solenoid) and I can hear the spark generator repeatedly clicking. When I have done this in the past the boiler usually fires up at this point but after 3 cycles, the boiler doesn't ignite.

I'm not a gas engineer and of course don't want to do anything I'm not qualified to do. Is there anything I can do myself before calling in an expert? My wife, two year old son and I will be very happy to hear from you.

Thank you
Craig

Thanks for the reply. I thought there might be something I could check without taking anything apart, stuff that doesn't require any gas certificate. If there isn't anything, I guess I'm not surprised as the re-ignition is an automated sequence.
