The boiler was serviced on the 10th and seems to have been working fine until I noticed today that the pilot had gone out. I relit it and it went out again half hour or so later. It did this a third time and although the pilot light seems to be staying on now, it's not firing up properly so the heating and hot water are just not getting hot enough. The heating pump is definitely working, it's just the boiler that is not firing up anything stronger than the pilot.

Any of you pros got any ideas about whether it's likely to be costly? I'm waiting for a call back from the place that serviced it to say they will hopefully be round today to look at it.

I've got a two year old that needs her heat.

Well turned out to be thermocouple which had literally exploded apparently. He said they usually come out in one but ours was in bits.

Anyway, job done, not too pricey and my little cherub can have her bath tonight.

personally would only have charged you for the parts seeing as only 2 weeks from the service .
Thermocouple dont explode and go into bits .The tip burns out and we cut and snap them to get them out easier, they never ever explode
