Hi
I have lived here 5 years + the GLOW WORM SWIFT FLOW combi boiler has always slowly needed pressure topping up from time to time.
It has been regularly serviced - once needed a new fan, another time it needed a new air switch + boiler was leaking water from a faulty washer.
Also I have just lost my job due to the recession and am worried about a big bill!
Recently it is a bit tempramental when the CH comes on - sometimes I have to bash it a bit to get it going then it runs fine but is a bit noisy. It is like the pilot light is not firing up more initially - after bashing it a bit - it fires up more and starts pumping the hot water around the CH system.
Every time it runs - the pressure shoots up to nearly 3 bars then drops to 0 when it has cooled down.
Hot water is all OK - pressure not affected.
I have repeatedly checked all the connections on all the radiators and cannot find a leak anywhere - also not stains on walls/ceilings.
Also no drips from the pipe outside the boiler - though you can see steam coming out when it runs.
I have read the other topics and would like to ask for your expert advice on the likely diagnostics - maybe it's a faulty expansion vessel? Maybe it needs a new pump? Or worst case scenario I need thermal imaging to see if I can find any under floorboard leaks?
Look forward to receiving your advice!
Thanks
