Hi Guys

Can you help us please. Boiler refuses to fire up this morning. Pilot is lit and i can hear the pump running. I took the silver screw from the pump and the inner bit is turning.

Anyone know whats the matter - we're freezing at the moment.

Many thanks

Dave

I'm an electrical engineer.

Can i test the stat and gas valve. What do i need to look for on both especially the gas valve

240V ac at the gas valve terminals. If it is there its the valve stuck.

Thanks gas4you. Got 240v at the gas valve terminals. So looks like its gotta be the gas valve. Hoping it wasnt as this is a gas valve that is only 18months old.

When you say 'stuck' does this mean a new one is needed or could it be 'unstuck' ??

Bengasman: Its a balanced flue so no fan - well i cant see one anywhere- :)

Also the stat was mentioned in a previous reply. Could this be at fault. Could i test its working with my meter?

Thanks

Dave

it is SOMETIMES possiblle to get a valve back into live but it is not something i would recommend doing unless it is a last resort and you really know the ins ant outs of gasvalves.
nor would i recommend changing the valve yourself as it is an essential gaspart that needs setting and testing

the thermostat must be working to supply 240v to gas valve

Don't know if these valves can have just the solenoid replaced, but again corgi territory.
