Hi over the last few weeks my central heating has been playing up. We called a plumber out who thought it was the thermal coupling valve so he fitted a universal one of those. This did not cure the problem so he fitted a new pump and the heating did work then for a few days. Then when we woke up in the mornings we noticed the pliot light was off and we would then have to re light it. The problem is now we woke up this morning and the light was off and we cant get it to re light we are not even getting a spark or anything.

any ideas

thanks for the help.

You evidently had a parts changer with no diagnostic skills. That can be expensive if you paid him!

Its difficult for us to guess whats wrong without detailed diagnostic tests in front of the boiler.

I think you need a competent engineer!

Its probably nothing serious.

I agree with Tony. By the sounds of things the main problem sounds pilot light based. Assuming that the thermocouple was changed and it has been left in the correct position at the very worst it could be the magnet on the gas valve that has weakened. Thats at worst case. It generally will be something small that will cause these type of problems. A "good" engineer should be able to diagnose pretty quickly for you.[/u]

Well its not gona ignite if youre not getting a spark, the ht lead may be shorting out somewhere.
