Glue removal

When my upvc windows were fitted about 10 years ago the installer fitted a upvc trim around the windows inside the reveal.
The trim was to hide the damaged plaster,and was glued down one edge to the window frame.
I have now had some replastering done and removed the trims, but cannot remove the glue from the frame.
Has anyone any ideas how to remove the glue, I have tried elbow grease ,superglue remover and hot water.
