Just fitted a new door seal on a WF640 but the bottom of the seal seems to be peeling back at the bottom, where the gap in the drum is (I can get a pic if helpful).

Am I supposed to glue the seal in place, before I fit the retaining band?

At first the drum rotated without any squeaking, on a no-load run cycle, but it started to squeak on the first wash.

I have tried it the retaining band with the plastic sheathing around the bottom, and now with the sheathing at the top (and the wire in the groove at the bottom), but it still seems to "relax" rather than stay on the drum. Should the plastic sheath be at the bottom?

It is a genuine part, I bought OEM to try to eliminate any issues with it not fitting correctly

No glue at all. Put a smudge of washing up liquid round the door seal and the inner drum that will cure it , till you do a few boil washes to relax the seal.
