good pilot bad geese

Attorney Ben Von Klemperer was getting up from his desk on the 25th floor of a Manhattan office building when he saw the Airbus 320 flying slow and low over the river — almost parallel to the water.

The craft didn't jerk, sway or dive, and there was only a small splash when it hit the water. "Textbook way to land a plane on water,"

Do they really write text books on how to land an aeroplane on water??

A.S. I worked for a guy who was training to be a commercial pilot and he had built up his own refference library. The titles leaned more to, what to do and what not to do in tricky situations. I am guessing he would have studied before hand where he could ditch a plane in just this situation. The amazing part is, that he would have had just a couple of seconds to make up his mind and start that turn otherwise he would have had nowhere to go ...Kev...

I just hope nobody tells 'Dubya' they were canada geese - he might order a retaliatory air strike on Ottowa!
