Good quality underlay

I've seen the following two underlays that seem highly rated on a shop site:

- Carpenters Deep Step PU Carpet Underlay (11mm)
- Cloud 9 Cumulus PU Carpet Underlay (11mm)
- Tredaire Dreamwalk Underlay (11mm)

These underlays work out fairly reasonable in cost terms if a full 15 square metre roll is purchased. Are any of these any good?

They are perfectly acceptable deep soft underlays, they are however, nowhere near as good as a natural felt product such as Axminster Axfelt65. Having said that they are rated as Heavy Domestic products.

What are the requirements for the areas though? That may make a difference as to what you choose to meet your needs/requirements, i.e. sacrificing long term wear and appearance retention for a deep, soft, spongy feel.

I'm looking for a soft, deep, comfortable feel.

11mm puFoam will give you deep soft spongy feel (Dreamwalk etc)

Axfelt65 would give great progressive feel, better appearance retention and better insulation from noise and warmth in winter.
