I have just replaced my ceramic hob (old hotpoint unit) but my new one only has two rings working, the wiring diagram on the new gorenje hob has an earth a neutral and an L1 AND an L3 connecton.
should I have wired two live feeds to both L connectors?

Also the conectors arnt very suitable for 6m cable.

any help would be great.

ps my new Transit van is the best thing I ever had

a simple connecting diagram is the only thing shown. it has connectors L1 L3 PE and N
The Earth is PE and N is obviously neutral.
but it shows two live feeds labled L & L2

the cables advised to use are H05 VV-F 4x1,5 or any other suitable cable of equal or better properties.
the rest is the usual warning stuff.

i have been off looking for your cooker, i found this which is yours?

it has been mentioned before on this forum about 3 phase cookers, some are not for uk use, and some are, but also some are BOTH, so sorry still no further forward, but which model is yours?

you say its 230v, but what rating is it? (better still what model, as i did ask)

sounds as if it needs supply to both L terminals. swap your live onto other L terminal, if other two rings work you know you must link both live terminals, use a link of 6mm cable. job done

This is becoming more common with more imported continental cookers. Many houses and flats in countries that run 3 phase to the house (west Germany for one), prefer to bring all three phases to the kitchen, for reasons of load balance.
One then installs 2 or 3 separate 16A cooker circuits in 1.5mm* rather than one big 30 or 40A one in 6mm. To allow use in situations where the feed is single phase, the elements are always arranged between phase and neutral, not phase to phase. Often there isa little bag containing a link to join one phase bolt to the next, but if not, link as advised.

*1.5mm round section 3 core cable with solid, non-reduced insulated earth core is the norm in Germany and has been for a long time - using the same stuff for lights, power and cooking makes it neat, if a little worrying to English eyes..
