I have just removed tiles from a large splashback area and am replacing them with formica faced plywood sheets. I will be securing these with Hi grab adhesive but when the tiles came off they took large areas of the skim with them leave just scratch coat in places. I dont need the walls dead level but will but filling these areas rougly with bonding. It will only be 5mm depth at maximum so how long should i leave it before applying the adhesive and should i seal it with anything prior to using the evo-bond adhesive on it.

Cheers

If you are filling 5mm then i think you will find it will be dry the following day.

So far as priming the wall, What does it say on the evo-bond tube ? Works wonders reading the instructions.

When it goes pink it is dry. I'd apply PVA as a primer if I were you but not everyone will agree.

thanks for replies, to clarify i am just filling the patches of finish skim that came off, i was going to use browning or bonding as smooth finish is not needed but would a 3-mm coat of either take? I know it is usually a 10mm or more thickness. Should i use a thisle one coat plaster instead?
