I lifted some old slabs in an area of my garden and would like to plant grass. What would be the process of doing this? There is around 2 inch depth between where the old slabs where and the current grass. Thanks in advance.

Take away all the rubble then lay top soil. Needs to be about 10cm's worth so the grass can get some decent, healthy deep roots! Then get some grass seed. Water every day until it takes.

As STFF says and then pay for a decent brand of grass seed. Don't buy the cheapest as it's false economy and will usually be a weak strain.

Don't worry if you new grass is a different shade when it grows, this is quite usual and will eventually blend in with the original as it gets used to the same environment.
