OMG! lol yes the ST99! thats it! only its an aged shade of yellow, not the white there.
Why is it £70+ ??? It seems a very "simple" programmer, this seems a lot, or is it a matter of quality? It would be nice to replace it with a new more attractive one, but im not paying that much.

I suspect that as it's quite an old model it has escaped cheaper manufacturing methods. Also there's a lot of them about, and being able to do a straight swap without altering the wiring must be an appeal for buyers.
I also suspect that a certain well known auction website may be able to bring the price down
you might be interested to know that since fitting a cyl stat, motor valve and pump to the (formerly Gravity) HW circuit on my old mum's boiler, weekly gas usage has dropped by 40%. (CH was off in both periods). The cyl also comes to temp far faster. Bringing the cyl up to temp after a bath uses about 6.5 kWh worth of gas (0.2 units on an imperial meter, 20 cu ft)
Only downside I can see is that the boiler room is now not hot all the time, so not much good for drying stuff in.
