Have just done a domestic PIR and amongst other things the MEM M/C CU is covered in oil/grease from the adjacent oven. This has made the 3871 MCB's really sticky and almost impossible to reset without using a tool to release the manual trip button. How would you code it (code 2 - requires improvement)??

Yes I would put it as a two. If its as bas as you say then should consider changing all the cbs for new and creating a grease free box or change the whole CU for one properly rated for the environment (IP65, maybe).

There's a reg too: 515-01-01 Possibility of detrimental influences between electrical equipment and non electrical service / equipment

Cheers, you have confirmed what I thought. I was going to recommend a CU replacement with the addition of a wooden cabinet to protect it from splashes as it was rather sticky to work on.

Also that box on the schedule of inspections already had a X in it.

Thanks again.[/img]
