green residue on copper pipes (near joints - caused by flux)

presumably not on standard copper pipe though, it would have been on other materials? anaconda springs to mind due to the relative thickness
 
at BG we were told it was corroding copper,alloy and the stainless anacondas,and the neoprene olives on the old 12mm fire restrictors
