Hi
We are doing up out 1920s mid terrace and today took the back off the stairs which had been boarded up. They need desqueaking but also we have a mouse problem so wanted to make sure of no holes.
When the board came down there was a fair quantity of green fine sand/ dust that came with it, say a small saucepans worth.
It's horrid stuff that gets in your lungs immediately.
The stairs have old carpet on with underlay, could it be this disintegrating over the years that has caused the sand stuff to build up or is it something to be alarmed at and vacate the house( thinking asbestos)
The bird was just big standard hard board.
Thanks for any advice.
