Hi all.

I think I need to recharge the expansion vessel on my boiler. It holds water pressure fine, but after heating has been on them proceeds to drain all water from system.

I'm just wondering if the Schrader valve core in the expansion vessel exactly the same size etc as one from car / bike tyres, and if so would it be a good idea to change it at the same time as doing the recharge?

I've phoned a couple of plumbing merchants and they can't tell me.

You only need to change the schrader core if it’s letting by. You can do this yourself but be advised not to remove the front casing on the boiler, access is via the rear bracket and you’ll need an open end such as a radiator drain off. may find that the expansion vessel is fine and it’s the hose that is blocked.
