The main sewage/ waste water pipe for our village runs under/ through our garden. I do not know how deep it lies, but presume several feet.
It is tempting to thing that because some waste water may be 'hot' water, the ground surrounding the pipe could be warmer than soil at the same depth without the pipe!
Could a ground source system be laid in intimate contact with the pipe? This could be around 100m, even without contorting the pipe to multiply this distance.
Obvious questions: has anyone else ever done this? Is it legal to harvest this potential waste heat? Would my local water authority allow/ sign off on this? Is the risk of damaging the mains waste water for everyone just so great that this is a truly "Don't go there" non-starter. I fear it might be....
Has anyone ever heard of others doing something similar?
Thanks!
