Could anyone advise where the capacitor should be wired to inside a Grundfos circulating pump? mine had trouble starting so I dismantled and the capacitor fell out. I have 8 crappy little terminals in there.
1-2 are jumpered
3 does not appear to have any conductor insert
which leaves 4,5,6,7 and 8...

help! dont want to have to buy a whole nother pump if the problem was a disconnected capacitor!

How old is this pump?

Does it just have 1 mm holes that you poke the cap wires into?

must be about 9 yrs old now. yeah, its got really bad little sprung terminals that you poke the wire in. how do they get that stuff type approved..?

I just rung Grundfos and tech sales girl said told me that I was welcome to keep flicking my pump..... honestly.

the pump is A1 fine, I am sure of that. soft water area, low use, runs as sweet as a nut when it starts, no bearing grunches, no free play. just needs the requisite volts phase lag to get the little b@stard going...

the capacitor goes across terminals 1 and 4, any way around.
got this from the Grundfos data sheet which tech sales emailed to me.
now the motor is starting reliably every time.
I wonder how many good pumps have been replaced because of this problem. those sprung terminals should be banned.

To be fair, they rarely give any problem.

Glad you get the terms and now its OK. Saved me needing to liik at a pump!

More problematic is that few bother to measure the capacitance. Its common for the value to fall and that reduces the torque. Peter the Plumber than acts with no technical knowledge and just replaces the pump as the customer is paying !
