Hi all,

This is my first post... I hope you can help me!

I have a problem with 3 of my 4 radiators upstairs - they won't heat to the top. I've tried bleeding them numerous times and all I get is air and no water. My CH is two years old and is a gas Potterton ProMax system. My radiators downstairs are all happy.

Thanks

Hi,

When I bled the radiator it made the 'chsssssss' sound and once this sound had finished, there was no sound and no water. I left it like this for 5 minutes and then tightened it again. Would I need to leave it for half an hour or something?

Thanks

no once the air stops water should come out.
whats the pressure gauge on the boiler reading ?

Thanks,

The black arrow is on pretty much zero, the red arrow 2. I'm not sure what these mean!

it means the boiler needs refilling at the flexi filling loop under boiler.
when bleeding rads don't let the pressure go to low or your just letting air back in the system.

You'll probably find that the red one is an indicator... a pointer of where the black one should live. Find the silver filling loop (silver with on/off tap on it) and add water (pressure) until the black needle climbs to approx. 1.5 BAR (no more than 2 BAR which is where your indicator is if the red one is an indicator). Then bleed rads again. Keep doing this until all rads are bled and pressure needle is at 1.5 to 2 BAR.

Thanks guys,

Just tried to move it but the black lever is awfully stiff - I recently broke my thumb so I'll have to get someone else to do it!

Thanks for the help and if you were in a pub I'd buy you a beer.
