can someone please help me, my boiler has stop firing up, it sounds like it wants 2 but dies out. After trying a number of times and holding down the red button it lit up for around 8 seconds then died off again. It had a new Aqua Stat (Thermastat) put in around June 2002, does it sound like it might be gone or does it sounds like 'something else' I have'nt got a clue

One assumes the fan is spinning and the aps has been proved ok?
The most common things to go on these are the ignition module, fitted to the gas valve, or the gas valve itself.
Which it is, is almost impossible to say as the ignition module plugs straight onto the valve.

Although at present I am unfortunate enough to be off with this wretched cold bug, I do still have to go out for breakdown calls 
No you will not have to change both, but need to decide which one is faulty.
