Hi there,

Not to waste anyone's time with preamble...

1) Boiler make / model (gas or oil)
Halstead Finest Platinum
2) What is / is not happening.
Hot Water fine and dandy - CH not happening
3) Has ANYTHING else been done or changed recently.
I noticed the pressure was VERY low after the heating failed to come on and have since increased the pressure - first time in 2 years :O(
4) When did the problem start?
Today 14/10/07
5) When does it happen? eg, heating coming on or going off.
Boiler starts up with the usual noises but blue light goes off after a few seconds and will not do anything regardless of setting on clock or thermostat.
6) Anything else you feel may be of relevance.
I've tried holding in the reset button to see if there are any error code led's showing but nothing changes.

England are going to win the Rugby World Cup :O)

Thanks in advance for any advice

Mark

If the boiler kicks in and fires up but cuts out then first suspect would be diverter valve. I beleive the platinum diverter is operated by an actuator. This may have failed.

Rob,

Thanks for the swift reply :)

Is this an easy/cheap thing to fix or am I best getting a pro out?

Cheers, Mark

general rule of thumb: if you can not figure the problem out by yourself, do not try to fix it yourself. If you change any of the wet parts and it starts leaking over the electrical side, you will pay a lot more in the end

It could be many other things from what i have said and chances are it is!

Parts ARE expensive for your boiler but in general are quite easy to fix (when standing in front of them). Maybe give halstead a ring and see if they can recommend someone in your area.
