hello

this 6 year old boiler has been serviced and never been a problem except for the usual lock out problem which needed the power reset to set it off again and was eventually diagnosed as the venturi tube. i don't want to be "had" again.

it is now just not igniting and after the three trials it locks out until the DHW is stopped. switch it on again and it is off. only once has it cut off mid shower and once mid-CH session.

this is more ignition than venturi tube isn't it as it's not even lighting?

i just want your ideas on likely culprit to prevent the wool being pulled down...

and ideally i don't want the letters PCB as i have read old posts containing the price!

cheers

chris

Give Halsted a call in the morning.

08712300207

That's the tech helpline which is charged at 10p per minute they are very helpfull.

Cheers.

it started working again, but has gone intermittent again. i rang the tech line and they think it could be the PCB (which is about £300 and i think i may rather buy a new boiler) or the electrode or something else - which is fair enough.

if it sparks it lights, but 3 times out of 4 it won't spark.

can i expect to be faced with the decision for a new pcb when i get an engineer in?

thanks - chris

Had them before where the ignition coil breaks down and becomes intermittent. 6 years is often the life of the first pcb. Boards are about £180 trade...don't know if Halstead do fixed price.
