Apologies for the simple question! But with hammer fixings which bit do you hammer? I'm assuming the plug into the wall but I thought it's better to have it push tight so you don't quash the plug in the hole.

You hammer the fixing in and it forces the plug to expand in the wall . I always tend to give at a half turn also just to snug them up.

The plug goes through the item being fixed and the screw is hammered in. A lot of people make the mistake of putting the plug into the wall and only the screw through the fixture. As DAZB says, a half turn at the end ensures a good tight fixing.

Simple instructions HERE

Thanks - seems count intuitive to be hammering in a screw!

One final question.....what's the difference between this and a frame fixing?

Cheers,
