handrail too long

my new handrail is too long, it comes in 3 pieces with 4 brackets and all the measurements to fit the brackets on the wall are around this length could i just cut a few inches off each and adjust the measurements all will it all go wrong ... help before i cut please :(
 
Yes, measure carefully and reset your bracket measurements to take account.

Remember, measure twice, cut once. If you cut it too short its very hard to add it back on. ;-)
 
having a problem with the bracket adjustments at the minute...but i will check before i cut ..many thanks
