Hello GSD,
Does the light fitting that you are installing come with it's own 'bracket' ??, Once you have identified the conductors ,and taken the existing ceiling rose away, the bracket usually screws up to the ceiling, then the 'fitting' once connected, has two tiny grub screws that hold the fitting to the 'bracket'.
Electrical connection matters are in the wiki.
