Hi, I'm looking to put some shelves up.

They will be quite deep, 40cm, and likely to hold considerable weight (cookbooks).

I was thinking of using some oak worktop off cuts, and I'd like them to be floating. The wall I'm attaching them too is dot and dabbed single skin 7.3n medium blocks.

I was thinking of threaded rods with resin in the wall, but I'm worried the hole wouldn't be deep enough.

It's an internal wall, so could I go straight through and use washers and nuts on the other side of the wall? I don't mind what that side of the wall looks like, as it's a utility room, and will be boarded eventually (bare block at the moment)

Was thinking of 3 rods (shelf widths about 400mm), with gorilla glue or similar holding the rods into the wood.

Cheers

Should work, you’re on the right lines.
Resin fix rods will also work, they don’t need a double skin wall.
