I have heard that screed board can be used directly over under floor heating instead of liquid or traditional screed. I am laying under floor heating with the heating pipes stapled direct to the insulation, Wouldn't the pipes become squashed if boards are laid directly on the pipes?

The pipes will be embedded in a separate layer with heat diffuser plates which allows the pipes to stay flush to allow the laying off the screed board.

Probably expensive but when you subtract the cost of a cement screed then it might be viable.

Hi,

Thanks for replying. :) Apparently you can purchase pre-routered insulation blocks which hold the under floor heating pipes. They don't seems that much more than normal 100 mm insulation. However, my tiler isn't happy with the concept as he thinks that the floor surface wouldn't be stable enough for tiles as everything is floating. What do you think?
