I drained down my CH system overnight to replace a leaking radiator valve. I thought i could leave the hot water system running, but I noticed the pump making a strange noise this morning and I guess i've messed up! I've turned the boiler and pump off now, but my question is am i likely to have damaged the pump? It probably ran on air for about 2 hours or so.

If you fill it up and the pump noise disappears, you have probably got away with it. Might have shaved a few years off its life with the bearing being cooked.

Definitely worth trying before you buy a new one.

Leave it several hours at least before making a judgement. Sometimes they take a long time to "settle down". Mostly it's about getting rid of air, but they can grumble for a day.
If you're unlucky a pump can be scrap after a few minutes running dry.
