We're redecorating our bathroom and have just had the ceiling plastered. Done all the sanding down etc... and started doing the first coat of undercoat in cheap Homebase matt white. I finished the remains of that off and went to buy more but they only had silk left.
I've subsequently bought the silk and proceeded with the first coat of undercoat. I knew that it wasn't ideal but as the matt and silk are different finishes - but it is only the first layer and didn't think differences would matter at this point.
When my partner, (who'd been sitting downstairs on his arse playing on some kind of walking round corridors and shooting people game - version 7) came upstairs and went mad stating that I'd ruined everything and we'd never be able to paint over it.
I wanted to check with people in the know - have I in fact nearly brought the planet to a standstill or is there still hope for the bathroom?
In short is it OK to use wht silk emulsion as undercoat or does it have to be matt?
I would really appreciate any responses.
Cheers
