undercoat as finish

I have a great colour undercoat which is better than the top coat. I want to keep it as the finish coat in a bathroom.

The problem is how to seal it I want to keep the matt finish so would water based matt varnish do it or is there any other way ?

As soon as you put anything over the top, the colour will change !

Yep, Thats the problem. Its oil based u/c so I am inclined just to leave it. I am going for sort of distressed look anyway
