I have a 2001 Ford Maverick manual.

When i accelerate hard and the reves increase (ie joining a motorway from a slip etc) the headlights start to dim. The dont go out but they drop to around 50% power. They dont return to full power untill the revs drop to around 4,000.

ive checked the alternator and that appears to be fine.

Its strange because i could understand it if it was the other way around...

Anyone got any ideas ?????

Thanks

Alternator would be the logical culprit. How did you check it?

Could be that when you rev up the belt is slightly loose and does not bite properly. ie. the wheel is going to fast for the belt. Had a similar problem on an escort and just tightened the belt.

Neo.. My brother in law has something that measures the output from the alternator. He said that it appeared to be ok..

Willa.. Thanks ill look at that
