Hearth regulations for multi fuel stove

Hi folks,

Please could someone help me understand the building regulations when creating a hearth for a multi fuel stove?

I have removed the existing fireplace to show the existing stone fireplace (in a victorian town house). There is an existing hearth, which is level with the floor boards and it has a depth of at least 25cm. Stone and concrete construction to the ground below the house.

Can anyone tell me whether the hearth needs to be a certain height above the floorboards? I'm confused whether the building regs state the height required above the floorboards or the total depth of the hearth.

I was hoping to just tile over the existing hearth with 1cm thick slate quarry tiles.

Don't use Gypsum plaster or plasterboard around the fire within 300mm of the sides or 800mm above, it won't stand the temperature & will fall off.
