Hello
The area above my new fire is getting very hot. The area includes steel supports I installed which will expand with heat then contract again as they cool.
This area has been increased in height by 1 block from the original fireplace to fit the fire. The previous level also had a steel support, and due to the baking effect over the years, the block above it had cracked badly. The steel support was the only thing keeping the old block in.
I've done the building work myself. The fire has been professionally fitted by a Corgi registered fitter. The fire passes the ventilation test fully even when cold. Ventilation is not the issue here, the fire is working perfectly.
I want to protect the area where the steel supports are. Is there any heat resistant tiles or other material I can cut to size that I can bond to the area I want to protect? I want to protect the blocks above the steel support from the baking effect.
Even though the fire is in, I can still easily access the area.
Thanks
