My heating system has a digital timer, 3 way valve for HW/CH & tank stat but no room stat.

I'd like to add some automatic control over temperature of living room but don't really want to use TRV's as radiators don't really get unblocked view of the room.

Can I add 2 way valve to pipe which supplies the room and room stat to open & close the valve accordingly.

Both valve & stat could be permanently live or controlled by the timer which ever is easier

If you have a three way valve then you can ad a room stat.

See Honeywell web site for "Y" plan wiring schematic.

Thanks for reply Tony.

Had a very quick look at the pdf for the Y plan, first impressions are that the stat will try to control the heating for the whole of the system.

Can it be done so that it only affects the room which i want to control

If you just want one room then a TRV.

If you must a two port valve and stat but the whole house stat if fitted would over ride that to off.

Thanks again Tony,

Can't imagine that I will have a "whole of house" stat fitted, as my kids use their bedrooms "as their living rooms", so i dont want a stat in one room to shut down the system.

just a thought (so prob no good  ) but could OP fit a room stat connected to a solenoid or 2 port valve on the living room flow, seems a lot of hassle but he doesnt want a TRV
