Heating help!!!

Hi there,
I'm having trouble with my heating system, the radiators upstairs are boiling and the downstairs ones barely get warm, I have the pump on the third speed and it makes hell of a racket, i installed a new thermostat not to long ago but not sure it's wired right or compatible with my current kit?? Any help

Turn off the upstairs radiators and see if the downstairs ones heat up. If so then the system needs balanced. Turn the pump down to 2 and see if it helps.

Couldn't comment on that one as we don't know how you've wired it.

I have switch off the rads upstairs and only the very top of the rads down stairs get Luke warm

Was like it last year but it's worse this year.

Possibly sludge affecting the system. Adding Sentinel x400 should help if this is the case. Follow manufacturer's instructions.

The stat seems ok as long as the other ends of the wires are connected as they should be.

Forgive my for sounding really dull but the sludge solution, where would I add that, would it be in the water tank in the attic??

Assuming you have 2 cisterns (tanks) in the loft, then the X400 needs adding to the smaller of the 2. I would turn off the water supply to this cistern first, then drain a few gallons out of the heating system. Check level in small tank has gone down, then add the chemical. Restore water supply. This will ensure the chemical is drawn into the system. Do not put it into the bigger tank as this feeds the hot water supply!

X400 needs a few weeks to work, assuming normal service is resumed with ground floor rads by then, drain it out, flush system through and then add X100 to protect the system.

I might get a plumber to do that bit lol, I just replaced the pump and the heat is now making it down stairs
