Balancing some radiators up in a pub. There are seven rads and in the bar area there are 22mm pipes running under a seated area with what looks like run of silver fins probably 5 inch thick all the way around the pipes under the seating probably 10 metres. This area is banging hot. Ive managed to get 5 rads hot with lockshields turned down very low. it seems the only way to regulate the seated area is through isolation valves in an adjacent cleaning cupboard. is it the case that these isolation valves can act as lockshield valves and would turning these down push water to the cold rads. Is there a term for the heating in the bar area. Cheers

Balance as normal, quite often referred to as "trench heaters". Can still be purchased. Small estate in Esher of scandanavian style houses all built with floor to ceiling windows with full width with banks of these rads in front of windows, the clean/flushed systems work very well.

Thanks for the reply. Am i right in assuming the isolation valves act like a lock shield as no other means of restricting flow in this area. and all other rads are turned down
