I am suffering a failure of the internals of the tank resulting in the white deposits blocking filters everywhere that have appeared in several threads over the years.

what are the options, can the inside be repaired…..I’m guessing not.

I see they are quite expensive to buy, what is the difference between these and others like gledhill platinum or Telford tornado, which are half the price, but still £900. Is it really worth £1800 just to buy?

for those that have had this, what did you end up doing?

No, it can't be repaired. Needs replaced. Alternative unvented cylinders are just as good IMO. Ultimately it's all down to how quickly you need it to recover and how efficient it needs to be.

I have deposits In the hot water inlet filters to showers, taps etc. From what I read on other posts it looks like limescale but the water is very soft here. Kettle never needs descaling for example. I have attached a photo of the shower hot and cold inlet filters, any clues out there? The tank...

What must be remembered about the Megaflo type with a air bubble is that ~ 25% of the HW capacity is unavailable due to the dip tube length required to allow a sufficiently large bubble to avoid over pressurising the cylinder after reheat, if one assumes that a final pressure of 4.5bar is required after a full cylinder reheat from say 15C to 60C, then a 200L gives effectively 150L of HW, a 250L gives 187L & a 300L gives 225L, the remaing HW is trapped in the top 21% of the cylinder with air occupying the remaing ~ 4% which leads to increased standing heat losses as well.

A quick update on this, I phoned the manufacture and there are basically two options, a one of fee of £450 or a monthly direct debit (£328 over a year) for a care and protection plan. They come out to inspect the tank. The failure of the plastic baffle is covered under the warranty and once confirmed it will be changed under warranty free of charge. If it hasn’t been serviced annually you find your own installer to fit the replacement.

So that’s the Baxi engineer just been, new tank on order on warranty. What brilliant customer service, a very nice change these days.

Hasn't been here since Sept 2023 so may not get a response.

As suggested though, if the unit was yearly serviced then they would have replaced it, if not then they just supply a new cylinder for the client to fit.
