heavy radiator on stud wall ?????

Hi all,

We have a large heavy radiator to be fixed to a wall, problem is that the wall is a stud wall with not a lot of battons installed and has been plastered.

Is there a way of some how installing this radiator that weighs around 50kgs to this wall.

I think i am going to have to remove a section and find some way of strenghing it somehow.

There is about 3" from the bracket to bare brick i am going to need to get at.

Any suggestions?????

Normally to support that sort of weight the wall would need to be opened and noggins fixed in between the vertical studs....strategically placed to catch your brackets, of course!
You could of course fit a column radiator with floor mounting feet, but I wouldn't know if this is acceptable.

We have in the past cut the rad brackets in the right places and "inserted" battons to make a sort of frame. Then, screwed this to the studs once located one way or another.


Opening the wall is the better method.

You could fix a sheet of wood to the battons then hang the rad off the wood.
