Hi All
Our 5 yearold Eurocombi suffered massive water ingress though exhaust flue during recent heavy rain, now after 2 days trying and drying still wont fire up. The design allowed water to pour over extractor fan at top of boiler, then down inside walls of boiler to collect at base of burning chamber, when releasing the rubber grommet that the ignition wires pass through, about a quarter of a bucket of water drained out. All parts now seem to be dry, but still no fire up. Fuses OK and machine switches on and attempts to ignite. I have noticed that if I disconnect gas supply the red led on PCB no longer lights up to be reset as it did before.

Phew, question is, if Fan damaged by water can it destroy PCB too? Most common unit to be damaged by rain through exhaust? If I leave for a few more days could we be in business again,? Lack of PCB light worries me though.

All the best

By attempting to ignite i assume you mean its sparking?

If this is the case then your fan must be working.

I think you need to explain exactly what compnents are kicking in, Usually pump first then fan then ignition starts.

Air pressure switch and tubing may be full of water. If the combustion casing was full of water the gas injectors may have been submerged - in which case the gas valve could also be full of water. Time to call in someone - this is not a diy repair.

Hi all, thanks for replies, yes sorry, by attempting to ignite I meant that pump switches on, and servos click, power light on. Anyway, it fired up this afternoon after some more drying and sucking out some residual water from the gas valve.
Thanks for your quick replies
