Just knocked a hole in the utility ceiling which has been dropped from the original. Expected to find just studwork holding up 9mm plasterboard but in fact I’ve got 6x2 joists and noggins spanning the opposite way to the original joist.
Ok I hear you say, a common method to support at failed floor BUT there’s only tiny packers between the new joists and the old ones.... some of them are actually loose and just pull out.
In a nutshell someone has gone to the trouble of installing 5 joists into the walls that are only holding the ceiling up
